Captured Moments: Featured Photo Roundup #5

How do you engage with art? It’s something I have been dwelling on, as I have been preparing my photos and videos for the next week. In today’s society, it’s common to see a piece of content, hit the heart, and then move on. After all, “content” is inherently disposable. However, there is something about an artistic endeavor that sticks with you…

Honestly there is truly nothing like it.

For example, have you watched a film that, days later, still sits in your brain, as you continue to process it? Or have you had a song that moves you enough to learn what the artist was attempting to say in their piece? Or a book that, as soon as you read, you must immediately come downstairs and share the story points with your family. (Yes, I did that one today.) Those works are powerful because they touch the specific part of who you are and, indelibly, become a part of you. Because an essential component of their power is that they speak to you as individual.

Those creations move beyond simply the moment in time in which they are consumed and become part of a conversation between the creator and the consumer. It’s no longer something you see in the moment and then forget. You are now engaging with the person who put their effort into the piece and are connecting with their thought process. I believe it’s the closest we get to telepathy.

The reason this is at the forefront of my thought process is because it is the next step in evolving my creative work. I mentioned last week that my goal is to give you an emphasis on storytelling. That is the “what.” However, this concept I am sharing today is the “why.” These (slightly esoteric) thoughts help me to shape what it is I will share. My hope is that at least one of the photos or videos I share will connect with you. I want to give you a reason to pause and share a comment, to start that dialogue.

Or at the very least, give you a reason to hit that heart.

Now, onto this week’s selections:

Just a father and son, out for an afternoon walk.

I mean, that's secret magic of visiting a Disney Park, right? You're strolling through an otherworldly market and come across two heroes, casually making their way across the avenue.

And it doesn't have to be intergalactic stars. It could be having your favorite silver screen icon, casually mentioning that he's "on your left." Or watching an icon ride the carrousel, accompanied by a pearly band. Or simply meeting your oldest friend as soon as you enter the town square.

Whoever you plan on meeting this weekend, whether inside the park or out, I hope it brings you joy and a bit magic.

Because this the way.

Twilight Of The First Order

As the twilight settles over Disneyland's Galaxy's Edge, Kylo Ren, the formidable leader of the First Order, commands attention in front of his imposing Tie Epsilon. The dark shroud surrounding him, swallowing the gathering darkness, casting an ominous aura that echoes the power he wields. Flanked by a stoic stormtrooper, the duo stands as a symbol of the First Order's dominance, their presence evoking a mix of fear and fascination among the gathered fans.

In this surreal moment at the edge of the galaxy, Kylo Ren breaks character for just a moment to acknowledge the adoring crowd. A slight nod, a penetrating gaze — a silent exchange that bridges the fictional realm with the real, creating an unforgettable experience for those lucky enough to witness the interplay between the dark side and devoted fans. The magic of Disneyland, seamlessly blending the fantastical with reality, makes even encounters with the galaxy's most feared figures a thrilling and immersive adventure.

Missing her... but not sand

In the midst of the Star Wars Nights at Disneyland, a captivating tableau unfolds as Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One, stands resolute, casting a radiant presence in the ambient light. Guarding the regal Queen Amidala, he embodies the heart of the Star Wars saga, bringing the epic tale to life in the enchanting surroundings of the park. The air is thick with the palpable energy of the Force, and fans are transported into the very heart of the Galactic Republic's drama.

As Anakin guards Queen Amidala, his presence creates a sense of awe and nostalgia, invoking the iconic scenes from the Star Wars universe. The meticulous attention to detail in his costumes and the immersive atmosphere of Disneyland during Star Wars Nights make this encounter a magical fusion of fantasy and reality. The Force is strong in this moment, as fans relish the opportunity to be part of the intergalactic saga right in the heart of the Happiest Place on Earth
